The listening philosophy
You can skip
the small talk.
Talk if you feel like it. Read your book if you don’t. You decide how much conversation you want.

The listening philosophy
A salon visit.
With room for you.
A good listener knows when to leave you to your book.
Your salon expert is there for the service, will listen if you want to talk, does not give advice, and will not ask about your private life. You can talk through your week, ask for quiet or decide on the day. There’s no expectation to share anything personal.
Talk or quiet during your visit is your choice; tell your salon expert at the door.
Your appointment, your choice
No need to
fill the silence.
A quiet appointment should be easy to ask for. Talk or quiet during your visit is your choice; tell your salon expert at the door. You can change your mind part-way through.
Your salon expert is there for the service, will listen if you want to talk, does not give advice, and will not ask about your private life.
About listening
What you should know
What does listening mean here?
Your salon expert is there for the service, will listen if you want to talk, does not give advice, and will not ask about your private life.
Will I be expected to share personal things?
No. The choice to talk, and what to talk about, is yours. You can ask for a quiet visit, or change your mind during it.
Is everything I say confidential?
What is said in your home stays in your home. Every Muslin House expert signs a binding confidentiality agreement before they start working with us. There is more than one exception, and we name them rather than hide them: the law requires every adult in India to speak up for a child’s safety or for certain serious crimes, and a court or the police can always require an answer from any of us. The full list, including what we choose to do ourselves even when the law does not require it, is linked below. We will not pretend there is only one.
